Tier 1 measures a solar panel manufacturer’s ‘bankability,’ or financial strength. It is not a measure of the quality of a certain panel model. The fundamental concept is that if a company produces poor-quality panels, it will not be financially successful or bankable. The fact that they promote โTier 1 panels’ without revealing the manufacturer is a warning sign for a shady installation. Most Tier 1 solar panels are fine, but some Tier 1 manufacturers do not have an Australian presence and instead ship panels into Australia via a local importer. These panels might be their low-end panels, which they do not wish to sell in countries with a stronger brand to defend. If you purchase these panels and they fail, you should contact the installation provider first. If they have vanished, you must contact the importer. We recommend only panels with a strong Australian presence.ย
