Solar panels being cleaned and maintained on a roof

How to Maintain Your Solar Panels and Keep Output High

Solar panels are one of the lowest maintenance investments you can make, mainly because there are no moving parts. That said, a little regular care protects your output and keeps your warranty valid.

Clean twice a year

Give the panels a gentle wash with a soft brush and clean water, ideally in the early morning or late afternoon. Avoid harsh detergents, abrasive sponges and high pressure cleaners, which can scratch the glass or force water behind the seals.

Watch the inverter

Your inverter will log any system fault. If the monitoring app shows an error code or the production graph drops suddenly, contact us before the fault escalates.

Check for shading and debris

Trees grow, leaves fall and bird nests appear. Trim branches back from the array and clear debris from the roof valleys to prevent damage during storms.

Never climb onto a solar roof in wet conditions, and always use the safety equipment your installer supplied with the system.

Keep the record

We hand over a maintenance guide with every installation, including the correct shutdown procedure and the recommended cleaning method. Keep it with your system documentation.
